With over 130,000 restaurants in Tokyo, trying to find one to visit can prove a daunting task. This is where a good hotel concierge comes in. After discussions as to what I was looking for, my concierge had no hesitation in recommending Teppan-yaki Yamanami in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. So off I went.

The name Träkol suggests Scandinavian furniture in many pieces, missing screws and requires many beverages and expletives to put together. Indeed, Träkol is Scandinavian, Swedish in fact; and it means charcoal – the name of a well rated restaurant in Newcastle, U.K.

Blue Elephant, Phuket

Blue Elephant is synonymous for their Thai ingredient range available in supermarkets globally and cooking schools in various Thai cities. They also have highly acclaimed restaurants in some cities – like the one in Phuket that is located in the old governor’s mansion.
